Weird, I haven't been able to get to Google for ~5 minutes:

Comparing DNS results from sites that can reach the target name, which is load-balanced, with results from hosts that can't is about all you can do for blackbox testing of an outtage like this. I don't quite understand why you think you're being funny, but you're not.

Luckily we managed to keep Yahoo up during that time, so at least people could still get their mail news, searches, ... ;-)

And imagine all the third party sites that went ad-free for the downtime. It's like having an AdSense blocker without installing one!
