Email/phone/pgp posts working? [Jan. 9th, 2006|10:52 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
If you're having problems with email posts, pictures posts (via email/phome), or PGP posts, can you post here and let me know the details? Your cell provider, mail client, etc... whatever's relevant.

LJ Mobile

When I post to a community and I get the "success you can see your post here" page...
I click on the "here" and it will be a random old entry from my journal (not the community journal). I've seen posts from as far back as 2000 when I click that link.

I don't think it's a provider issue, but I'm using the SKII with Tmo

There are a few issues open in Issue Investigation, such as 518778 and 533312. The support admins can probably tell you more.

Email/phone/pgp posts

I never use any of that stuff, but I assume it's still working fine.

Glad I could help.

usually fails from the sidekick/hiptop in the last six months

It frequently doesn't work and is often delayed when I post with my hiptop. I get the mail okay to my cc: address but the LJ post either doesn't appear, or appears much later. This is connecting via email from danger.com's network and/or tmobile's network.

If it doesn't show up in a couple minutes, call Lisa and/or Matthew immediately and let them know.

Just as an FYI: Right now Sprint is dealing with 3 DS3's cuts and this is affecting most of the western half of the United States. This is effecting not only Sprint; MCI & ATT are also effected along with mobile to mobile and land to mobile on Time Warner Telcom.

This is also not only effecting cell phone users, but internet and long-distance provided by Sprint, MCI & ATT are also effected.

Whole Sprint call centers west of the Rocky's are with out internet or phones at this time also, and employees have been sent home. Right now Sprint does not have a timeline on when this is going to be fixed.

I am not sure if this is causing any of the stuff to not post, but I thought you like the heads up.

An update to my first comment.

Well, they seem to have most of the problems fixed right now. It seems that they have fixed the cuts or have rerouted the network around the problem areas.

I now have the ability to call in and out, from both local and long distance numbers. Voice mail seems to be back and working fine too. I even got *2 to work, which is the Customer Care number.

There still maybe some more issues on the network for the next 6 to 12 hours, but I do not expect them to be major.

Peace,
Kevin

Few weeks back it took about 20 hours to post a pgp-signed message. I just tried again and the delay was negligible. Also tried the PIN method, again, no delay. As far as I can tell, it's working fine.

PGP was my gripe and would-be test, so I guess I won't bother unless it breaks on me.

Stuff

Treo 650 using Versamail.

Posts with no images often show up, but very haphazardly in time. Posts with only images aren't showing up at all anymore.

This could all be me though, but I could swear not a thing has changed lately in the setup.

IM me and I can send a test post through.

I've never been able to post images from my phone.

I'm using a Sony-Ericsson T637 with Cingular. I've set it all up in LiveJournal's photo post settings page.
