The people that were going to do our wedding photography aren't going to work out (it was a small company that bounced between Seattle/Portland and is now only doing Seattle....).
And now that it's so close to the wedding (July 15th), everybody we're finding that would work for us is booked.
Our main condition is that we own the copyright/negatives/original files. The company/person can still use the pictures in marketing materials and even resell prints to wedding guests, but we want the originals to do with as we please.
Know any good wedding photographers in Portland on July 15th? Are you a wedding photographer that wants to be in Portland on July 15th? :-)
goddammit that anonymous comment was me.. sarah the pro.
anyway, PICKME. k thanks

Got a portfolio online of wedding pics?
I know a guy in Beaverton, but I don't know if he does weddings.
I've sent him an e-mail to see if he does. If so, I'll pass along his contact info.

Fuck the norm. I'm not going to accept a shitty industry and cave to it.
There are a fair number of companies that let you pay them extra to own the content. The problem is they're just all booked on our date. :-/
I love his work. HIs pictures are lovely and I even love the pcitures of babies, even though I'm not fond of those creepy accidents.
He's in Toronto, but I bet it'll be worth your while to get him to go to wherever bumfuck town you're in :/
I like this guys pictures. Go for him Brad.
What's your price range? What kind of photos are you looking for? You say fuck the industry but how far do you want to take that?

There are few details I care about for the wedding. I want a David peeing vodka (which would be cute), but most importantly I care about owning the pictures. I wouldn't mind paying 3x regular rates, or whatever makes sense financially for the photographer: I'm not sure if they make more money on the event or the prints. My goal isn't to fuck the photographer. On the contrary, I want them to be happy.... I just want to shift the financials such that I give them the money, rather than them charging my guests. In any case, I have no interest in getting my own prints made, so I'd probably still go through them for those.
I imagine we want halfway traditional photos. Fun, but no colored filters. :-)
little brad is gettin married!

I'm definitely planning on brining my camera gear and hooking you guys up with a bunch of shots (you can do whatever you want with the negs). But...I'm not pro, so you're still going to want to hire one.
So what I'm actually saying...I'm really of no help. I bet I'll shoot at least 1 of your top 5 favorite shots...and 2 of your top 10 though. And you can forward this challenge to whoever you get :-)

Awesome. Thanks! :-)
I am a member of a digital photography website and there may be someone there who can help you out - I'll make a post there and see if there is any interest.

posted in my journal for you
there are a lot of photographers on my friendslist , so hopefully someone will try to help out,
there probably is someone that might travel too
i have an old friend who does weddings. I've never really seen his photos, but he can supply references and a portfolio i'm sure, and he was always the type of guy who was good at whatever he decided to put his mind to. I'll see if I can get ahold of him.
A friend of mine. Beautiful work. I'm not sure if she insists on owning the negatives, but tell her you're a friend of mine, and she might be flexible.
She was my wedding photographer. She travels the US to do her photography, and she took some excellent photos. I have the rights to my photos, got a high resolution DVD of them all, and she put them on a site for friends and family to view them for a few months, and she included a proof book.
My friend doesn't do weddings, but he gave me the name of another guy in Portland who does.

I have to check but we have an old neighbor who just finished his schooling or will soon for photograghy. He did many weddings during his work study period. You will be surprised who it is. They are supposed to move back here in the near future. I will check with his mom and dad and let you know more.
