Want to sleep, but I'm still kinda sick, and coughing's keeping me up.

So....

I'm looking into Helicopter Rides instead. I've never been in a helicopter and intend to remedy that. Anybody else interested?

Helicopter rides are fun.

You might want to try hang gliding, too -- much quieter, cheaper, more interactive, and REALLY fun.

hang gliding is like the best part of skydiving, all the time.

Yeah, my kids are going to be in Santa Barbara next month; you wanna pick them up while you are riding around? :-)

In the city once a week or so - would love to join in if you've got a specific date in mind. :)

You should look into taking a "discovery flight" rather than a tour. Discover flights are introductory lessons (usually at a discount) that instructors use to get you hooked. There are no prerequisites and you should be able to take the controls for a good part of the flight. There is no obligation to continue flight training.

The cost is a probably something like $275/hour for a Robinson R22. If you want to take two people along you can get a R44 and two people can sit in the back.

I'd do that!

Haven't been in a helicopter since Iraq.

Cool. I'll keep you updated.

Perhaps we could get the charter they list as "good platform for photography" and get some good city/bridge shots.

I've been meaning to...

Taking a helicopter ride has been on my todo list for way long now. I should really get around to that someday...

After your helicopter you should go for a ride on a fighter jet. I've always thought that'd kick ass.

I went once with Sheryl while in Key West. It was so cool to go over the water and see the sea turtles in the water. They have some helicopter rides out of Seaside. They fly down over the coast line to Cannon Beach. We have been meaning to do it for awhile, but have not done it yet. Maybe the next time you are here we can go and do it.
