Ordered this guy so I can make movies on my motorcycle using my little camera's movie mode.

(Because I bet there's not enough of them on there...)

But this way I can show people some of the ridiculously beautiful stuff around here.

That is a great use for that, I have the SLR version and it doesn't hold an SLR but it would be good to mount on a bike with a light video camera, thanks for the idea!

Hah... hell yeah.

And then I guess a laptop in the backpack, doing the recording.

If I could get the Mac to close without suspending.

Or just plug it in to a regular video camera.
This is kinda long, but a buddy of mine made this using that helmet cam, sometimes on his helmet, sometimes on various parts of his bike:

*professional rider, closed course, do not attempt

Hah, no fucking way I'll attempt. Attempt being the key word there.

Is he actually touching his knee to the ground in some of those corners?

Yeah, he is. He's a very advanced rider, but even so, I don't exactly condone riding that aggressively on the street.

Hmmm when I was buying the tripod, I was absolutely mad of all that gorillapods - all the ebay is filled with it, and it's quite a tough task to find what you actually looking for. However, it turns out that somebody really needs it (and buys it). Is it that handy?

Shock-resistant... Small... Waterproof... Decent enough video... But above all, inexpensive - which is great if you want to get a little crazy creative with it :)

I saw a video of a guy doing like a 400 mile ride. He took jpegs one every 30 seconds and then stiched them together. So you go 400 miles in like 4 minutes or something like that. It was a pretty sweet video. Do you camera support the gphoto2 --capture-image option? You could do some pretty sweet time lapse stuff with that, and a laptop.

If your camera is like mine, an mjpeg video takes up about a gig in 8 minutes. I wonder what the battery drain would be on that anyway, I've never taken one that long.

This video isn't the one I was thinking of, but it's the right concept...
