* Android SDK == even awesomer[1] than last time I checked it out. Too many apps I want to write.

* Eclipse ... seriously? You really need to use 850 MB of memory, you fat, slow piece of shit? Emacs is using 8 MB. Le sigh.

[1] if Apple can use the word funnest, I can use awesomer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed "the funnest" use of the English language by Apple :-P

I know! Huge hog, with skinny little legs that snap sometimes.

My head's still ringing with people bitching about how bloated Emacs is.

"Eight Megs And Constantly Swapping", as the saying went. Of course, back then 8MB of ram was a luxury few had.

I got the damn android toolchain working outside of eclipse. Want my setup?

Have they come up with another way of doing UIs besides the horrible verbose XML horror?

Not that you'd necessarily care to say here, and that's fine, but what apps?

I like my iPhone because it runs an alternate version of the Darwin kernel, but I actually don't find that I want the phone to do all that much beyond being a phone except for things that Apple doesn't want it to do (read: sshd and local file storage--the normal iTunes sync thing works well enough and gets most of what I want back and forth, but it turns out I'd rather be able to use rsync and choose my own data types for arbitrary sorts of data, thanks).

The only "killer apps" (hate that phrase) that didn't ship with the thing back at firmware 1.0 (if, you know, buggy at the time) for me are the (Apple-created) Remote and exposing the underlying OS (which gets me the aforementioned plus things like proxies for tethering). Oh, and the local apps to view various document formats are handy, but it turns out I usually only care about 7-bit ASCII.

What doesn't Android do that you'd like it to do?

random mostly-unrelated... are you currently using an iphone? 'cause there's this user-created iphone lj style that i haven't tested but looks rad at a glance
