Long time no see.
How's my baby doing?
Hah wow.. I still check a few times per week, but that facebook thing is what all the cool kids are talking about, and on. The medium is the message - and the message is short and incoherant, not like the long posts livejournal lent itself to.
It still lets me be long-winded with profligate hyperlinks. And it lets me easily find long-winded opinionated bluster I wrote several years ago so I don't have to type it all again.
In other words, it's doing things better than any site with a lot of hype these days.
Still kinda alive and rolling, I think.
But honestly, your baby is still the best "SNS" platform so far IMO. (How/who runs it is another story, tho.)

Several of us are considering coming back for long form style blogging.
Miss your guidance though, how's the big G?
post an update on your life...
Still motoring along. Still has nice advantages like being relatively good for semi-serious discussions and bad at selling all obtainable personal info for profit and making it easy to split portions of life for different audiences.
It drastically slimmed down, way fewer active users, but it's still an awesome place.

still a better format for social communications than those other guys!
even better now that i can read two week's worth of LJ in an hour
been a long time since i got a spam comment, they did a good job fighting the spam
sometimes it's better to be the small community
though too small these days.
Every time I think of the list of great open source programmers that Google has swallowed up, you top the list.
I made friends on this platform in its heyday, long before the world had ever heard the term "blog", "friend list", or "social media". Friends that I still have.
So I want to send you a heartfelt THANK YOU!!!
I'm still here. I don't have very many public posts anymore but it still is an important tool I use.

Your baby.... still going strong....
In Portugal :)
I catch up on my LJ weekly, it's my Sunday ritual: no other SN site do I actually read *everything*, I don't have time, and LJ still has a number of users who continue to post. I've been saddened by its relative demise, but heartened by it's relative resilience. It's still the best place to view most of my newsfeeds, and I can actually search the archives, something which s being done appallingly or not at all (or actively being made more difficult) by other sites. LJ still does things better, and in ways which no other site does. I hope the usage stats have stabilised: I think LJ will be around for a while yet.
Oh, and I still have my LJ t-shirt, I found it the other day. I might even wear it, screw the blank or disturbed looks (it will never ever be like MySpace!!). My diaspora tshirt I'm rather embarrassed by though: and I also have a "No I'm not on $^@&%* Facebook" which I don't think I'll ever wear in public though I did take icon pics wearing :)
Alive and accessible here in China without a proxy, unlike fb, youtube, twitter, may other blogging platforms . . .
