back from the law library ..... found two very good things working in my favor. 1.) for the statute i was cited to be in violation of, the maximum fine is $250 ... not the $480 I was written up for. 2.) for speeding violations, another ordinance says the officer must write the approximate speed i was traveling, as well as the speed limit in that area. there was also some mention of only being able to give speeding tickets in government-approved speed trap areas, but i won't worry about that one. i think the first two mistakes on the cop's part are power enough for me.
