yeah, so windows 2000 seems to be working now, and I was able to preserve my data on the drive, so now I'm going to copy over to my linux machine what I want to keep, then nuke the whole windows drive (all 25 gig) and reinstall windows 2000 a third time, totally fresh. then reinstall all my applications.
