Well, just found out that a handful of the 8 other people I was going to live with next year just backed out. So I guess housing plans are now, once again, up in the air. I'm about to just say "fuck it" and get myself a really nice studio apartment. Some say I'd be lonely. I'm not so sure.... solitude sounds nice. In other news, I just modified the core LiveJournal database table that holds all 66,947 journal entries and growing. In the process I killed the LiveJournal server because I renamed an unused column and deleted another (both of which I guess I was kinda using in the server, but not for anything useful.) But now the database is setup to handle message subjects/headlines, compression (for large posts, I may have the server compress your message first, to save disk space in the future.... I'm going to experiment with this), and also for security --- you'll be able to set who can read your LiveJournal posts: public like it is now, private (just you), users (any valid LiveJournal user, kinda a dumb choice), and custom where you specify what group of people can see it.
